MESSAGES FOR YEAR 12 STUDENTS

Supervised Study
These sessions are compulsory – not optional.
You should arrive with work to do and if necessary should refer to: https://stb6th.edublogs.org/students/tips-for-nn-contact/

Attendance
Letters will now be going home for attendance issues. Please contact Mrs Garetty about any absence via phone or email. Letters are still being sent to students who clearly have not completed a drop form, make sure you do a drop form if you drop a subject.

Work Experience
As discussed in last week’s Enrichment, please start to consider options for work experience. A letter will be sent out shortly, explaining the process in more detail.

UNIFROG
It is essential that every Y12 student sets up a Unifrog account. There are still 105 Y12 students who have not registered an account. For anyone who missed Enrichment (or didn’t have a connected phone with them), please follow these steps to set up your account. It is essential that you use the correct Form Code;
1. Go to https://www.unifrog.org/code
2. Enter the code that corresponds to your Tutor Group. The formula is quite simple: You need to enter the bit in bold.
C1 – C1stbartholomews21
C2 – C2stbartholomews21
etc., etc.
D1 – D1stbartholomews21
etc., etc.
E1 – E1stbartholomews21
etc., etc.
P1 – P1stbartholomews21

MESSAGES FOR YEAR 13 STUDENTS

95 Applications have already been sent to UCAS and 73 students have already received offers from Universities with 10 students having already heard back from all their chosen universities. A further 19 have been received and are being processed by the Sixth Form team. They will be sent to UCAS over the next few days. To enable the process to run smoothly, please follow these steps carefully:

1. update your UCAS form to include any AS grades and to reflect any subjects that you have dropped or picked up since July.
2. complete your personal statement, ask someone at home to check it and then share it via Unifrog with your Tutors. I have asked Tutors to turn away any personal statements that are sent to them via email or on paper. The Unifrog tool is much the most efficient way of managing this process and given the number of students involved, it is important that everyone sticks to this.
3. once your Tutor has approved your personal statement via Unifrog, you should save a copy and then cut and paste it into your UCAS Form.
4. once you have shared shortlists with your Tutor and finalised your choices (up to 5 for everything apart from Medicine) you should enter your final choices on to your UCAS form.
5. complete the blog form at https://stb6th.edublogs.org/ucas/586-2/. This guides you through some final checks and provides us with some information that will help us to check the form. It also places you in a queue so it means that we can manage Forms in the order in which they were sent to us.
6. press pay and send from the UCAS site.
7. keep an eye on email. If there are errors, your form will be bounced back to you for corrections. Please respond quickly. You only need to pay once!

Your references are currently being finalised. You are not required to do anything in relation to your reference other than to ensure that the Tutor Reference (written by your Y12 Tutor) reflects the full range of your skills/activities.

MESSAGES FOR ALL STUDENTS

Sixth Form Christmas Party! Friday 6th December 6-8pm. Tickets £2 on ParentPay or from School Officers. Dress festive!

Would you like to help with the Mock Election? I am meeting with the teams on Monday break 10.50 in C016. Please come along if you would like to help. Mrs Lane

General Election Hustings
At 12.10pm on Friday 6th December, we will be joined in the 6th Form Area by local candidates for the upcoming General Election. This is an opportunity for students to hear their views and policies as they vie for your vote in the election. This is a particularly important event if you are a first time voter. Even if you are not old enough to vote, your opinion could influence others! Come along and hear what the candidates have to say.

Use of Common Room
As mentioned in recent assemblies, there has been some significant damage to furniture in the Sixth Form. Due to this, we are having to be particularly vigilant about how the space is used. Climbing on furniture, and spinning on chairs cannot be tolerated. We have a very large Sixth Form and it is essential that all students feel comfortable in the communal spaces. Please treat the communal areas with respect.

Car Parking
Students are reminded that you are not allowed to park on the main school site.

Annual ONA Vs St Bart’s Rugby Match
Forward notice – This year the ONA v St Bart`s Rugby fixture will take place on Wednesday 18th December at 2pm on the main school field. This is a great long standing traditional event – please come along and support the teams!

We Will Rock You!
The school production will open on Monday and run for two nights. Come along and support your fellow students as they wow audiences with hits from Queen! Tickets are discounted for students and are available form the Art office in Curnock.

Dress code
Please ensure the dress code is being adhered to and that you are dressed appropriately. We will be focusing on trainers again next week, as we are seeing an increase in those choosing to wear them. Wear boots NOT trainers in bad weather.

Pantomime
There are still a few roles to fill if anyone is interested in playing a part in the first ever 6th form panto! Come and let us know in the 6th form office if you are interested. If acting isn’t your thing, come along and watch to support this charity event. Tickets will be available soon – watch this space!

Ecobrick Making Club! Monday CO21 12.40. Don’t put it in the ocean, put it in a bottle! Bring your lunch, cake provided!

Cross Country
If you would like to run in the Berkshire Schools Cross Country Championships on Saturday 18th January 2020 at Newbury Showground then you need to have a conversation with Miss Ostinelli who will need to officially register you. You will need to be able to get to Newbury Showground yourself. Please come to the PE classroom on a Monday or a Tuesday at 12.40 to do this or a Friday at 10.50. This has to be done by the end of term.
