MESSAGES FOR YEAR 12 STUDENTS
Helping with Y11 interviews
Hello everyone, it is nearly time to start interviewing for the new set of Year 11s and we will be asking for your help with this process. The interviews will take place on the following dates and times – obviously you don’t have to commit to all of them but it would be great to have a range of people to help and support on every day. I will talk to you further about this on Monday in assembly, and of course your help with this will be a helpful addition to your CVs, personal statements, Unifrog entries and applications for House Captain and so on.
Please register before working in other areas. You should arrive with work to do and if necessary should refer to: https://stb6th.edublogs.org/students/tips-for-nn-contact/
Letters are going home for attendance issues. Please contact Mrs Garrety about any absence via phone or email. If you are missing lessons for medical appointments or any other reason, please let Mrs Garrety know or you will accrue unauthorised absence. If you are unwell during the day and need to go home, you must let Mrs Garrety know, don’t just leave the site as this also leads to unauthorised absence.
Please discuss with tutors and/or 6th Form team. You have up to 5 days available during this academic year (excluding summer exam week).
It is essential that every Y12 student sets up a Unifrog account. You should now all be signed up! There are tasks that need to be completed by 13/01/20.
MESSAGES FOR YEAR 13 STUDENTS
An email was sent out to all students last week. A copy of it can be found at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JLW1CfU-0fCZBGW-QvqtlyPVP-O3p4uBD_Z2UAzxAhw/edit?usp=sharing
If you are invited for an interview at a university or you need some help deciding on your offers (although there is no rush!) then please contact one of the sixth form team if you would like some assistance. If you have received responses from all your university choices, please don’t rush a final decision. Discuss options with your Tutor and with members of the Sixth Form team and consider revisiting universities etc
MESSAGES FOR ALL STUDENTS
Winter Ball Friday February 7th from 7-9.30pm. Tickets on Parentpay or on the door £5. Theme Roaring 20s.
New BBC show – information: At the end of this month, a brand new show is launching on every BBC local radio station across the country and we’d love for your students (or staff!) to be part of it! Upload on BBC Radio Berkshire is where we’ll showcase the best of Berkshire’s creativity – whoever you are, wherever you are, we’d love you to upload it. Anyone over the age of 13 can contribute (with parental consent). Whether your thing is blogs, vlogs, podcasts, comedy, short stories, poetry, fiction, film reviews, gig reviews or interviews, this is your chance to get on the BBC. It’s really simple – go to www.bbc.co.uk/upload and get your stuff to us in seconds. You don’t need lots of kit, it doesn’t need to be fancy, you can just use a voice-notes app and upload it direct from your phone. The show launches on Thursday 30th January at 7pm on BBC Radio Berkshire and on BBC Sounds, and will be on air every Thursday night, so there’s no deadline, just keep your content coming!
Students are reminded that you are not allowed to park on the main school site. Students are also reminded that they must stick to the hard-standing area of the Wormestall field and not stray on to the field itself. Student passes will be issued in the next couple of weeks. If you have not already done so, please complete a car registration form and hand it to Mrs Garrety. Students are also reminded that if you park in the wrong place, and you are challenged by a member of staff, you need to respond with appropriate politeness.
