PATHWAY – EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS DAY – Feb 19th 2019
You have all signed up to Pathway and they are offering an Employability Day on February 19th. You will get to work in small groups and take part in 4 short workshops. The workshops are designed to improve different aspects of employability and confidence.

Students will work on CV’s, strength identification, first impressions and interview techniques. The day is hosted by Pathway employability experts and supported by volunteers from our corporate partners. You will get the opportunity to meet employees from a range of businesses, learn more about yourself and gain experience in starting your career. During our interactive employee Q&A, you will also be able to ask questions anonymously and take part in live polls!

WORK EXPERIENCE OPPORTUNITY
Diamond have opened applications for their Work Experience Programme. The projects on offer cover a wide range of subjects encompassing science, engineering and computing, but also wider careers here at Diamond including communications and legal.

Enrichment Y13 (Mon): No enrichment (Year 13 exams)

Y13 Exams – Jan 28th, 29th. Please see message sent before Christmas for more details. Please make sure you are fully prepared and line up in the hub 15 minutes before the start time.

PROM will be on Friday 28th June. Speak to those mentioned in assembly if you would like to be involved in organisation.

INTERVIEWS – If anyone is invited for Interview at any institution, they should contact Ms Lane/Mr Robbins and look to arrange a practice interview. It is essential too that they make separate contact with Mrs Garrety (hgarrety@stbarts.co.uk) to notify her, in advance, of any absence.

Helping with Y11/ Sixth Form Interviews
Thanks to those who have offered to help with the Sixth Form Interviews for Y11. Please come to the foyer on Tuesday 30/1/19 at 12.45 to talk about how to run the interviews. Thanks for your support – bring a friend! We need about 40 students on each date.

Due to unfortunate clashes there will be no after school orchestra rehearsal for the next two Tuesdays. Apologies and I look forward to seeing you on the 12th Feb – extra refreshments will be available! Mrs R

ALL YEARS – this week is Storytelling Week – everyone has a story to tell. Look out for posters and briefing telling you how to celebrate Storytelling at St Bart’s.

COMPETITION – open to all years
What’s your story? Tell us your personal story in no more than 500 words in any form – poem, short story, monologue.
£5 Amazon voucher for the best in each category as judged by the Head Boy and Head Girl:
KS3 Years 7-9
KS4 Years 10-11
KS5 Years 12-13
Entries to be submitted to the English Office addressed to Mrs Lane by the end of Monday 4th February.

Tuesday:
6th Form Netball league at v Park House. Change at Activity Time. Meet outside the PE office at 3.20pm to walk to Park House together.

Thursday:
Seniors Lacrosse coaching – 3.30-5.30pm – Year 10 could join in for second hour after their fixture if they wanted to.

Debating Society (12.45-1.15) This House will make no more New Year’s Resolutions. All welcome. We will also be putting together teams for House Debating tomorrow – Mrs Lane

ALL YEARS – Young Carers Awareness Day is taking place this Thursday, 31st January.
Come to the hub at activity time and take part in a range of activities to celebrate Young carers Awareness Day. Fun to be had and prizes to be won!

Cultivate 2019 – New Business Ideas
Are you or a small group of your friends interested in launching your own business idea? The Cultivate competition allows you to work with business professionals in order to do this and learn to pitch it effectively through an interactive workshop. For your chance to enter and win up to £500 please attend a meeting in the Wormstall Conference Centre at 12.40 on Tuesday 29th January to get more information and to sign up! Two of our teams did really well last year, coming 2nd and 3rd overall. Can you go one better?
