Y12 Enrichment – Thursday Period 3

This week a former St Bart’s student is volunteering their time to talk to you about the jump up to 6th form and becoming an independent learner. Be ready to take away some excellent top tips to make the best start to Y12.

To give you prior warning, Y12 photos will be taken during enrichment in week 3.

Y13 Enrichment – Monday Period 3
This week you will be introduced to the VESPA mindset. Further to this you will take part in some team building games, in your tutor group teams. These will be useful when helping to gel with your new Year 12s! At the end of this session Mr Castel will speak with the students taking an EPQ this year.

Huge thank you to those who came along to help to settle students in on the first day of term – it was brilliant to have you around and made a huge difference for all of us.

Subject reps – please arrange with your subject teachers/heads of faculty to come into Y12 lessons (or others as appropriate to your role) by the end of week 2.

If you are picking up an EPQ in Y13 and came to the introductory sessions at the end of the summer term, then please come to our first session this Wednesday 11/9 period 5 2.20pm. Please meet in the common room outside my office. Please bring any work you have already completed. Mrs Lane

Messages for all Students

No Whole School Assembly on Weds

Employability P4 Wednesday in the Hall – compulsory session for everyone NOT timetabled for a lesson at this time to hear about and select their choices for Wed 4 employability.

Students need to be aware that with effect from the start of this week, all staff are being encouraged to make sure that Sixth Form students are meeting our expectations in terms of:

a. use of mobile phones. These can be used in the Common Room, Robinson Rooms and Foyer. They cannot be used in corridors, the Hub or in the Library. Neither can students have them out in lessons without the express permission of teachers.
b. punctuality – students should arrive punctually for all lessons and should leave the Common Room in time to arrive promptly.
c. all aspects of the dress code including the ban on facial piercings. If students need reminding, this can be found at: https://www.stbarts.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Sixth-Form-Dress-Code.pdf

Tutors will give students one day to address any issues and remove piercings. If students don’t respond, their names will be passed to the Sixth Form team and, where necessary, students will be sent home to put things right etc.

AUDITIONS for the next school production will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday during activity times this week. We need lead roles and a large supporting cast to put on a performance of We Will Rock You featuring the music of Queen. If you would like to take part please come along to P113 on Tuesday or Wednesday – all years welcome. Scripts to demonstrate your acting ability will be available outside the Expressive Arts office from break today and you should be prepared to sing a very short extract from one of your favourite songs (this does not have to be a Queen song). You can audition with a friend if you let us know. Please see a member of the Drama or Music departments if you have any questions or cannot attend on either of the audition days. Thank you and Good luck.
